How to Use the Image Crop Tool
Upload an image and select the area you want to keep to crop it directly in your browser. Along with standard rectangular crops, the tool supports circular, elliptical, triangular, and freehand cutouts.
1. Load an image
Click “Choose Image” to load a photo or image, or drag and drop it into the upload area. You can also paste an image from the clipboard with Ctrl + V or ⌘ + V.
PNG, JPG, JPEG, and WebP images are supported, with a maximum file size of 50MB. If you do not have an image ready, you can try the tool with the sample image displayed by default.
2. Choose a crop shape
Under “Crop Shape,” choose Rectangle, Circle, Ellipse, Triangle, or Freehand. Choose a shape that suits your needs, such as Rectangle for general photo cropping or Circle for round images such as icons.
3. Adjust the area you want to keep
Move or resize the crop frame on the preview to select the part you want to keep. The area outside the frame is darkened, so you can check the composition as you adjust the crop.
With Freehand, drag on the image to trace an outline around the part you want to keep. When you release the mouse button or lift your finger, the start and end points are automatically connected, and the enclosed area becomes your crop selection.
4. Set the aspect ratio or triangle direction as needed
When Rectangle is selected, you can set the “Aspect Ratio.” Choose from Free, Original, 1:1, 4:3, 3:4, 3:2, 2:3, 16:9, 9:16, 4:5, or Custom.
- “Free” lets you adjust the width and height of the crop area independently without locking the aspect ratio.
- “Original” locks the crop area to the same aspect ratio as the loaded image. For example, if the original image is 1200px wide and 800px tall, the crop area will also have a 3:2 aspect ratio.
- “Custom” lets you enter your own width and height ratio values.
When Triangle is selected, choose Up, Down, Left, or Right under “Triangle Direction.” Adjust the direction to suit the area you want to crop or the design you are creating.
5. Check the cropped size and file format
“Cropped Size” below the preview shows the image dimensions in pixels, along with the file format. Circle, Ellipse, Triangle, and Freehand cutouts are saved as PNG files to keep the area outside the shape transparent.
6. Download the image
When you are happy with the result, click “Crop & Download” to save the image cropped to your selected area.
Click “Reset” if you want to start over.
