How to Use the Blur Image Tool

The Blur Image Tool lets you blur an entire photo or image, or select specific areas such as faces, text, and backgrounds to blur.

1. Upload an image

Drag and drop an image into the “Upload Image” area, or click to choose the image you want to blur. You can upload PNG, JPG, JPEG, or WebP images up to 50MB.

A sample image is displayed by default, so you can try the blur effect before uploading your own image.

2. Choose the processing area

Under “Processing Area,” choose either “Whole Image” or “Selected Areas.”

Whole Image

Applies blur to the entire image.

Selected Areas

Applies blur to the areas you select on the preview. You can create multiple selections within a single image.

3. Choose a selection shape

When “Selected Areas” is selected, you can choose the shape of the area to process.

  • Rectangle
  • Square
  • Circle
  • Ellipse
  • Freehand

Choose a shape that suits the object you want to blur.

4-a. Select an area with Rectangle, Square, Circle, or Ellipse

Choose a shape, then drag on the preview to create a selection. Square and Circle selections maintain their aspect ratio as you draw.

4-b. Select an area with Freehand

With “Freehand,” use your mouse to trace the outline of the area you want to blur. When you finish tracing and release the mouse button, the start and end points are automatically connected, and the enclosed area becomes your selection.

5. Adjust your selections

Drag an existing selection to move it. Move your cursor over its boundary and drag to resize it. Square and Circle selections maintain their aspect ratio when resized.

Drag at another location to add a new selection.

Use “Undo” and “Redo” in the top-left corner of the preview to undo or redo selection edits, or “Clear All” to remove all selections.

Blur outside the selected areas

Turn “Invert Selection” on to keep the enclosed area unchanged and blur everything outside it. If you create multiple selections, blur is applied outside all of the selected areas.

6. Adjust the blur strength

“Blur Strength” lets you adjust the amount of blur from 0 to 50px. Lower values create a lighter blur, while higher values make the image more blurred.

7. Adjust the edge feather width

In “Selected Areas” mode, you can adjust “Edge Feather Width” from 0 to 100px. Higher values blend the blurred area into the original image over a wider boundary. Use 0px for sharp edges.

8. Check the preview

Changes to the settings and selections appear in the preview in real time.

Choose “Before” above the preview to see the original image, or “After” to see the processed image.

Use “Zoom” to enlarge or reduce the preview.

9. Download the processed image

Under “Output Image Settings,” you can specify the width and height of the image to save, from 100 to 4096px. When you load an image, the initial output size is based on its dimensions. Images that exceed the limit are automatically scaled down while preserving their aspect ratio.

Turn “Lock aspect ratio” on to change the width and height while preserving the original image’s aspect ratio.

When you are finished, click “Download” to save the processed image.

Notes on Using the Blur Image Tool

Blur makes information in an image harder to see. However, it does not guarantee that sensitive information such as passwords, card numbers, or API keys will be completely concealed.

For important information that must not be shared publicly, do not rely on blur alone. Use a method appropriate to your needs, such as removing the relevant area from the original image.

This site cannot be held responsible for any damage arising from the use of images generated by this tool.

Can I blur multiple areas?

Yes. After confirming your first selection, drag at another location to add a new one. You can create multiple selections within the same image.

What is the difference between Blur Strength and Edge Feather Width?

“Blur Strength” controls how much the image’s details are blurred. “Edge Feather Width” controls how gradually the selection edges blend into the original image. You can adjust these two settings independently.

No. Your uploaded image is processed in your browser and is never sent to or stored on a server.

Can I use the processed images commercially?

You can use the processed images for personal or commercial purposes. If you process your own image, follow the original image’s terms of use and copyright requirements.
